The City of New York Parks department purchases FSC® certified tropical hardwoods for their many outdoor park benches and boardwalks. These benches are located in City Hall Park in downtown New York. The World's Fair bench is a standard design used for many NYC parks. The bench slats shown in these photos are kiln dried ipe from FSC® certified forests in Bolivia. Kiln dried tropical hardwoods are more stable in service and are less likely to check after installation.
